Malaysia and China Reinforce Trade & Investment Ties While Emphasising Regional Stability


On October 28, 2025, During the 47th ASEAN Summit, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang focusing on deepening trade and investment cooperation, while also addressing regional security issues. Key topics included the automotive and high‑tech sectors, rare‑earth elements, the East Coast Rail Link extension, the Perak‑Penang water‑pipeline project, and halal industry collaboration.

 

Chinese Premier Li Qiang remarked that China is willing to align Malaysia with its “15th Five‑Year Plan” framework, strengthening cooperation in economic and social development.
