October 28, 2025 – Singapore – To drive innovation and industrialization in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), HP Inc. has launched its first global innovation platform — Garage 2.0 — in Singapore. The initiative aims to help AI startups accelerate their journey from prototype development to commercialization and global market expansion. The launch also marks HP Singapore’s 55th anniversary, symbolizing the company’s commitment to bringing its “garage innovation spirit” from Silicon Valley to Singapore.
Amit Mangwani, HP’s Head of AI Strategy and Partnerships for Greater Asia, said that the establishment of Garage 2.0 continues HP’s founding spirit of “garage innovation,” creating an open and collaborative ecosystem to drive real-world AI applications. HP Singapore and Southeast Asia Managing Director Alex Koh emphasized that while Singapore has no shortage of capital, the scarce resources lie in technical support, market access, and collaborative networks. Through Garage 2.0, HP seeks to act as a facilitator of innovation rather than merely an investor.
The Garage 2.0 platform focuses on nurturing AI-related startups, with key areas including edge AI devices, operational efficiency, intelligent decision-making, and next-generation printing technologies. Selected startups will receive mentorship, product testing support, and market expansion assistance. They will also have the opportunity to co-develop and validate applications with HP’s technical teams at its Singapore campus, leveraging HP’s customer and partner network across 21 countries to scale globally.
The platform is supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and early-stage venture capital firm Antler, and is jointly developed with ecosystem partners including the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Enterprise Singapore, SGInnovate, the Singapore Management University Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Betatron Venture Group, and TiE Singapore. Participating startups will also gain access to collaboration opportunities with leading industry players such as NVIDIA, Intel, and Google, enabling AI technologies to be applied across more industries and real-world scenarios.
The first cohort of ten startups joining Garage 2.0 includes teams from Singapore, Southeast Asia, and Australia, covering areas such as robotics, smart manufacturing, and AI software. Among them, Singapore-based AI and robotics startup Menlo Research is one of the participants. Its founder, Junhao Wong, noted that innovation depends on continuous experimentation and rapid iteration. “Startups can adopt a two-week sprint and fast-iteration mechanism to make failure part of the innovation process. Learning when to stop early allows resources to be directed toward truly promising ideas,” he said.
HP stated that Garage 2.0 is more than just a physical space — it is an open platform that brings together businesses, academia, and government agencies to collaborate and drive the sustainable development of Singapore’s and the region’s AI ecosystem.
