Electronics Industry
Almost all key electronic devices today contain components made in Singapore.
Electronics Industry
Almost all of today's key electronic devices contain components made in Singapore. The electronics you may be using right now likely include parts from Singapore's electronics industry, such as Seagate hard disk drives, HP print heads, or Energizer's iconic batteries. In fact, your smartphone's ability to connect to a 5G network may be thanks to radio frequency filters produced in Singapore.
Leaders in the electronics industry are also charting the future in Singapore. Singapore's research institutions are working closely with pioneering companies such as Nvidia, Infineon, and Micron to continuously push the boundaries of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Autonomous Vehicles (AV), and Industry 4.0.
Diverse Manufacturing Hub
Many of the world's largest pure-play foundries have manufacturing facilities in Singapore, as do many top outsourced semiconductor assembly and test companies. Beyond semiconductors, Singapore is a key node in the global supply chain, producing storage and memory devices as well as microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). These manufacturers are supported by a rich ecosystem of leading materials and equipment suppliers and electronics manufacturing services companies. Looking ahead, the Electronics Industry Transformation Map (ITM) aims to drive continued industry growth by transforming the existing enterprise base through productivity improvements, automation advancements, and upgrading manufacturing product portfolios.
Singapore boasts the most diverse semiconductor industry in the Asia-Pacific region.

Industry-Ready Innovative Talent
Singapore cultivates over 14,000 engineers and technicians annually, providing a continuous stream of talent for the electronics industry. The Economic Development Board, through platforms such as the Singapore Industry Scholarship (SgIS), Industry Postgraduate Programme (IPP), and the Nanyang Technological University-AMD Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, collaborates with companies to nurture the next generation of foundry engineers, integrated circuit designers, and AI talent.
Companies such as Konica Minolta and MediaTek have leveraged Singapore's business-ready workforce, establishing innovation centers here to fuel their expansion into new markets.
Preparing for a 'Smart' Future
Electronic products are a core pillar of artificial intelligence. Through Singapore's National AI Strategy 2.0, we are committed to collaborating with global companies to pioneer new growth areas, create new jobs, and participate in the development of future industries.
With the proliferation of cloud computing and the introduction of generative AI, the volume of data transmitted between data centers and to end-users has reached unprecedented scales. To improve the energy efficiency of data transmission, new technologies such as silicon photonics are being developed, some of which are being researched and developed in Singapore by companies such as Broadcom and Marvell.
