The chemical industry encompasses multiple sub-sectors, including basic chemicals, fine chemicals, and plastics and rubber, while the pharmaceutical industry excels in innovative drug research and development and production. This industry directly employs approximately 400,000 people and indirectly drives a large number of jobs through the industrial chain. Chemical and pharmaceutical products are widely used in numerous industries such as construction, automobiles, medicine, and agriculture, playing a significant role in Germany's stable economic growth and diversified industrial development, and are also a major source of Germany's foreign trade surplus.
