Germany's automotive industry is large-scale and a crucial pillar of the national economy. In 2023, the total output value of the German automotive manufacturing industry reached approximately €550 billion, accounting for nearly 20% of Germany's total industrial output value. The automotive and related parts industry has created a large number of jobs in Germany, with more than 800,000 people directly employed. Including indirectly related jobs, the number of employees exceeds 3 million. German automotive brands enjoy a global reputation, with brands such as Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz holding important positions in the global automotive market. Taking 2023 global automotive sales data as an example, Volkswagen Group's global sales reached approximately 8.3 million vehicles, BMW Group sales approximately 2.4 million vehicles, and Mercedes-Benz Group sales approximately 2.1 million vehicles, all ranking among the top global automotive sales. Germany's automotive export value has remained high for many years, reaching approximately €280 billion in 2023. It is one of the world's largest automotive exporters, with exports covering complete vehicles and various high-end automotive parts.
