A Complete Guide to Renewing Your Employment Pass (EP) in Singapore
In today's globalized business environment, the international flow of talent is crucial. As an important part of developing and expanding international business in Singapore, ensuring the smooth renewal of Employment Passes (EP) for key personnel is particularly important. To help companies successfully complete the EP renewal process, FOZL has compiled a detailed EP renewal guide based on the regulations of the Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
Important Information on EP Renewal
According to the regulations of the Singapore Ministry of Manpower, companies can apply for renewal 6 months before the EP expires. The processing time is usually within 10 working days. If the deadline is missed, a new EP application is required. Therefore, companies need to plan ahead to avoid delays affecting business operations.
Standard Requirements for EP Renewal Application
1. Salary Requirements: Applicants must meet the minimum salary requirements stipulated by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower. The salary should be clearly divided into basic monthly salary and fixed allowances, and the total amount must meet the standard.
2. Educational Background: Applicants must possess relevant professional qualifications and degree certificates, and their qualifications must be certified.
3. Work Experience: Applicants must have sufficient work experience related to their job position, especially providing the specific years of experience in their current position.
4. Job Requirements: The position must fall within the standard occupational classification of the Singapore Ministry of Manpower, and the job responsibilities must be clear, specific, and closely related to the company's actual operational needs.
5. Company Qualifications: Applicant companies must provide relevant financial information on turnover for the past 3 years, indicating whether it has been audited, to demonstrate stable company operations.
6. COMPASS Score Requirements: Under the Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS), each employment pass application will be scored based on four basic criteria (salary, qualifications, employee diversity, support for Singaporean employment) and two additional bonus criteria (skills bonus, economic priority strategy bonus). Applicants must score at least 40 points to be eligible for an employment pass.
Exemptions from the COMPASS Assessment Framework
EP applicants are exempt from the COMPASS assessment if they meet the following conditions:
• A fixed monthly salary of no less than S$22,500;
• Or, applying as an intra-corporate transferee from an overseas company under the WTO General Agreement on Trade in Services or relevant Free Trade Agreements (FTAs);
Please note: Applicants must meet the minimum benchmark salary for EP applications.
Application Notes
• If the applicant's spouse holds a Singapore NRIC, FIN, or relevant pass, the spouse's information must also be filled in.
• Applicants in certain industries may require additional support from professional organizations or regulatory bodies. For example, professionals in the medical, legal, and sports fields need to provide supporting documents.
Applicant's Declaration and Responsibilities: Applicants must ensure that the information provided is true and valid, including a clean criminal record and no history of being banned from entry or deported. Applicants must also agree to allow the Singapore Ministry of Manpower and relevant government agencies to verify the information if necessary.
