【Singapore Company Registration Tips】 The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) launches a donation application service to facilitate the submission of tax-deductible donation information by charitable organizations.
Singapore Inland Revenue Authority (IRAS) launches Donation Submission Application Programming Interface (DON-API) service to facilitate a simpler way for charitable organizations to directly submit to the tax authority tax-deductible donation information 。 From January 1, 2024 all charitable organizations will only be able to submit donation records to the Singapore Inland Revenue Authority using software that adopts this service.
Currently, donations to approved charitable organizations in Singapore can receive a tax deduction equivalent to 2.5 times the amount of the donation. These organizations must record the information of each tax-deductible donation received within one year and submit the donation records to the Singapore Inland Revenue Authority no later than January 31 of the following year 。
Since April 2023, the Singapore Inland Revenue Authority has gradually promoted the DON-API service to all charitable organizations. Charitable organizations first download the offline application—ipcLink application or Donation Offline Validation Program, and enter the tax-deductible donation information into the donation management software. After verification through the application, the electronic file to be submitted can be generated. The organization then needs to log in to the government tax website and upload this electronic file to the Singapore Inland Revenue Authority.
DON-API will connect the charitable organization's existing donation management software to the authority's system, allowing the organization to submit donation information directly without downloading any applications. The system can also detect errors before the organization submits the donation information to the Singapore Inland Revenue Authority, thereby reducing the need for error correction and resubmission. If the organization finds an error in the submitted information, they only need to correct the error in the software and resubmit the information, without having to contact the authority to notify them of the content to be modified.
Currently, there are 10 digital service providers have incorporated DON-API into their donation management software. The Singapore Inland Revenue Authority will continue to cooperate with more suppliers to provide software with DON-API.
