【Singapore Company Registration Tips】 Singapore public documents authentication can be processed online starting in 2025

September 12, 2024, Singapore Academy of Law and the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore jointly announced that, From 2025 onwards, document authentication can be done online ，a convenient and time-saving procedure. For the first time, both parties are applying verifiable credential technology to the authentication process, aiming to improve efficiency and make the process more secure and reliable. This move makes Singapore one of the first countries globally to adopt an e-Apostille Framework for digital document authentication.

Members of the public who require authentication services can directly upload their documents to the Singapore Academy of Law's website (www.legalisation.sal.sg). Each document costs S$10.70 (inclusive of GST), the same as the physical authentication fee. The Singapore Academy of Law will continue to provide paper certificates as needed.

The first phase of the e-Apostille Framework covers documents issued by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore, such as business profiles and certificates. These documents account for approximately half of all authentication requests. The inclusion of documents issued by other public agencies will be announced separately in the future.

Data shows that in 2023, the Singapore Academy of Law authenticated approximately 200,000 documents.
