September 11, 2025 – The EU-ASEAN Business Sentiment Survey 2025, released by the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC), revealed that Southeast Asia (ASEAN) remains a key priority market for European companies. More than half of the respondents indicated plans to expand their operations in Singapore.
The survey gathered responses from 474 European companies operating across ASEAN. Findings show that 51% of European firms plan to expand in Singapore, making it the most favored destination within ASEAN. Vietnam (66%), Indonesia (60%), Malaysia (57%), and Thailand (44%) also ranked high among companies’ expansion targets.
In addition, 39% of European businesses identified ASEAN as their top choice for supply chain relocation, underscoring the region’s strategic role in global trade diversification and resilience.
Chris Humphrey, Executive Director of the EU-ASEAN Business Council, said: “The results reaffirm European businesses’ strong confidence in ASEAN’s long-term potential. With its stable business environment, robust regulatory framework, and regional connectivity, Singapore continues to be the preferred hub for European firms expanding across ASEAN.”
The findings reinforce Singapore’s role not only as a strategic gateway for European investment into ASEAN but also as a key hub in the global supply chain reconfiguration.
