【Malaysia Company Registration Tips】How to Choose a Suitable Financial Year-End

A fiscal year is the 12-month period a company uses for financial accounting. In Malaysia, the Companies Act 2016 doesn't specify a start or end date, allowing companies to choose their own. Every company must prepare its first financial statement within 18 months of incorporation, and subsequently, annually within six months of the fiscal year's end.

Newly incorporated companies can select any fiscal year-end date within 18 months of incorporation. Most companies choose the calendar year-end (December 31st) or a quarter-end (March 31st, June 30th, September 30th), or a less busy time to simplify financial statement preparation and submission.

Careful fiscal year-end planning ensures more efficient and compliant financial management for your company.
